Excite Finishes Homestand With a 10-6 Win Over Rebels

The Cincinnati Excite finished their season opening three game homestand with a 10-6 win over the Northern Illinois Rebels at the Game Time Training Center last night.

Excite forward Matt Brienes, coming off a five-goal performance last week, scored three goals in this contest. Julio Falconi added two goals for the Excite as well.

Matt Brienes' Five Goal Performance Leads Excite

In a match up of the last two American Indoor Soccer League champions, a record-tying five-goal performance by forward Matt Brienes helped lead the Cincinnati Excite over the Massachusetts Twisters 9-5 at the Game Time Training Center.

Brienes’ performance (four one-point goals and one two-point goal) was the fourth time in his AISL career that he scored five times in one game.

EXCITE delay Premier League Tryouts 'til end of US

The Cincinnati EXCITE has delayed the start of the Premier League to allow for further participation by the USL players who wish to tryout and play for the EXCITE.

The player draft will begin on Monday, August 20 at 8pm at the GameTime Training Center.

The first game will be Wednesday night, August 22.

Excite Keeper Suffers Severe Injury In Game

This past week, Cincinnati EXCITE goalkeeper, Jay Schneider, a Cincinnati native who played soccer for Wyoming High School, played four years at the University of Cincinnati and professionally in the USL (United Soccer League), was severely injured in a pickup game while trying to stay sharp in the net for the upcoming 2007-08 season.

While playing in the goal, Schneider had to challenge a ball pushed past his defense. As Schneider came out of his box to challenge and clear the ball, the opposing team's forward swung his leg to shoot the ball. Schneider had saved a goal by clearing the ball and beating the opposing player but the result was much worse.

Team owner Dave Galus and his wife Erica became the proud parents of Jackson James Galus on May 16th at 4:22PM. Jackson enters the Excite roster at 6 pounds and 13 ounces and 19 inches long. more...
